Astrology is a Calendar
It is important to understand and know that Astrology is not a science or a religion. Astrology is a calendar and a tool for introspection. What does this mean? I am going to tell you, but this may be a lot at once, so take it slow and it's normal to be confused (I am still learning myself). The moment you took your first breath, a snapshot of the universe was created that tells you your energetic makeup (your birth chart). The key to alignment is aligning with your chart ruler (based off your rising sign). Your chart ruler in Astrology shows you the bigger picture of your energetic signature.

"Unless someone else was born at exactly the same minute of the same day of the same time of the same year and in the same location as you were, not one other person shares the custom soul signature of your chart. Even identical twins will have subtly different charts depending on the minute they were born. And even those who may magically share your data will be "living their chart" in all its dynamism through their own free will." ~ Ruby Warrington, founder of The Numinous with Bess Matassa.

The Zodiac Signs
The Zodiac is a stary belt consisting of 12 constellations marking Earth's annual pathway around the Sun. These constellations are the signs of the Zodiac. The Zodiac signs are fixed in the cosmos. As the Planets move through the Zodiac, their unique energetic traits filter how a Planet's energy is expressed. The Zodiac is like the mask worn by the Planet (the actor) reflecting it's style of performance in the play of your life.
The Planets
The system of Astrology is built upon 11 planets: the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and Chiron. Each planet represents a profound energetic meaning that makes up your human experience. Think of it this way, your life is a play and the Planets represent the main actors. Each actor performs a special part in the story of who you are and how you respond energetically to life.

Let's put it all together! How Fun! We will call this my Personality Report:
-
Ascendant in Scorpio: I tend to be secretive, withdrawn, deep, mysterious, regenerate or degenerate, reserved, hard to understand, courageous, willful, stubborn in thought (where is the off button to my brain?), self-controlled (except when passionate), and a bit OCD.
-
Sun in Pisces in the Fifth House: I am interested in all forms of self-expression (sports, books, theater, drama, games and romance). Happiness comes from my artistic and creative endeavors (it took me 37 years to figure that out). I am sympathetic, compassionate, idealistic, intuitive, emotional, creative, secretive and self-sacrificing. My shadows with this placement include expecting too much from others, impressionable, in-decisive, and self-pitying. The symbol of Pisces is two fish swimming in the opposite direction tethered together by a cord. One fish represents the personality and the other represents the spirit. These opposing forces cause insecurity and indecisiveness. Pisces learn and grow through suffering.
-
Moon in Scorpio in the First House: Moodiness and changeability are key words for me. I am sensitive and insecure - but I try to not show that. I am very sensitive to my environment. Knowing this keeps me aware of situations I need to remove myself from (energy vampires are real). I can be quite restless and impulsive. I find it difficult to trust people. I am very suspicious of other's true intentions. Vulnerability does not come easy for me (writing this took forever).
-
Mars in Sagittarius in the Second House: I have trouble controlling my spending habits and can sometimes be an impulsive shopper. Money comes and goes in order to de-emphasize it's importance. Concentration on my talents is key with this placement. I am forever following some unknown, bright, distant star (thank you Neptune in Capricorn placement - definitely need some grounding). I tend to get distracted easily because I have too many things going on at once.
-
Mercury in Pisces in the Fifth House: I desire to communicate my thoughts in a clever, inspiring and dramatic manner (just don't call me dramatic). My Birth Chart reads: "You may have acting, writing, or speaking ability." I am a lead litigation paralegal by day so this fits. "As a teacher, you enjoy stimulating the minds of others and encouraging your students to greater things." I am a volunteer volleyball coach at my local YMCA. I am just going to say that with this placement I would much rather be a musician than a scientist or mechanic. My nerves and mental health require me to periodically rest away from the noise of the world. I think in terms of mental abstractions; this makes translating thoughts and impressions into concrete, everyday language extremely difficult. I am open-minded and believe anything is possible (no, this does not mean toxic positivity).
-
Jupiter in Pisces in the Fourth House: I am generous, self-confident (when my moon allows me to be - yes astrology seems contradicting but that is the point, you can see the connection between the energies (the aspects) and better learn how to work with them), I have to guard against becoming ostentatious and watch out for self-indulgence. With this placement, I have a need for growth and expansion that is best satisfied when working to help raise mankind to a higher vibrational level. I recognize that we are all in this together. I am hypersensitive, over-emotional, and at times too sentimental.
-
Venus in Pisces in the Fifth House: I am affectionate. I love performing. Over-indulgence has to be watched. I am a sucker for any sort of sob story. I am very idealistic in matters of love and this sometimes plays itself in the part of being the martyr or savior. I desire intimacy and deep spiritual relationships but must be mindful of co-dependency and manipulation.
-
Saturn in Sagittarius in the Second House: I can be thrifty, practical and responsible. This placement does not deny money, but it has to be worked for, poverty is possible with this placement due to lack of understanding of true value of money and possessions. I have a tendency to become depressed over material matters. My attitudes of possessiveness of others has to be monitored and kept in check. Feelings of being unloved, unwanted and unappreciated occur with this placement. I had to learn to value myself first. My birth chart reads: "Mental maturity comes later in life and promises success." Benefits are gained from meditation and introspection (for me, this is Tarot). On the shadow side, I can be cynical, aesthetic, selfishly ambitious, dogmatic, insincere and sarcastic.
-
Uranus in Sagittarius in the Second House: I earn money in original and inventive ways (I solve legal puzzles by day and read Tarot by night). Money and possessions come and go in sudden, unexpected ways. With this placement I am innovative in religion in order to seek release from accepted beliefs and dogmas with the purpose of learning more.
-
Neptune in Capricorn in the Third House: I am idealistic and artistic. With this placement I have a pronounced ability to visualize and imagine. Flashes of inspiration come to me quite suddenly (I now call these downloads). My birth report shows traces of clairvoyance. Feelings of insecurity cause nervous disorders (I fought my energetic gifts for the longest time out of fear of not being "normal"). I refine, in a prudent, reserved manner, matters related to power, control and success.
-
Pluto in Scorpio in the First House: No matter what comes, I will stand up to it. I am strong-willed and brave. I unfortunately crave experience and transformation (I recently learned what this placement really was about - my inability to sit still with myself). I am gentle and sensitive but yet will always fight for what I believe in. Regeneration is a topic that constantly occupies my thoughts. I am capable of great anger under the right circumstances, and when this occurs, I can go off like a bomb. However, this placement also comes with the ability to be a channel for healing. Forgive and forget are key; I cannot brood over slights, whether real or imaginary (communicate and be vulnerable people). With this placement I delve deep into the hidden secrets in an intense and secretive manner, in relation to sex, the mind, occult studies and death (transformation).
-
My Spiritual Lesson to Learn: Restraint (holding on to anger can cause stones to develop in the gall bladder or kidneys).
